Two ways to begin with sunrise
The first light is the defining moment of this experience, but there is more than one way to see it. On Saturdays, you can begin with the special early-access sunrise experience at Sugarloaf Mountain. On any day, including Saturdays, we can instead start from one of Rio’s viewpoints.
The choice changes what makes sense afterward, so we shape the rest of the six hours around where your morning begins.
What happens after sunrise
Rio Sunrise is not simply an early transfer to a viewpoint.
The sunrise opens the experience. From there, the morning continues as a private tour of Rio.
If you begin from a city viewpoint, our suggested route continues to Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain.
If you begin with the Saturday Sugarloaf sunrise experience, you have already experienced the mountain, so the natural next major visit is Christ the Redeemer.
Those are starting routes rather than fixed scripts. We can adjust the remaining time around your priorities when another combination makes better sense.
Why experience Rio this early
There is something different about seeing Rio before the day has fully begun.
The city slowly takes shape in the changing light, mountains and coastline emerge from the darkness, and familiar views feel different when experienced at the beginning rather than the middle of the day.
Starting early also changes the rhythm of the hours that follow. Instead of adding sunrise to an ordinary sightseeing day, we build the morning outward from that first moment.
The result is still a private tour of Rio — just one whose perspective begins with the city waking up.
Make it yours
The suggested routes give the morning a strong structure, but they are not the only way to use your six hours.
Perhaps the sunrise itself is your priority and you would rather spend the remaining time somewhere other than one of the major landmarks. Perhaps Christ is essential but Sugarloaf is not. Or you may have another part of Rio you would particularly like to see while the day is still young.

Is Rio Sunrise right for you?
Rio Sunrise may suit you particularly well if:
- seeing Rio at first light is something you genuinely want to experience;
- you do not mind a very early start;
- you want to combine sunrise with some of Rio’s major sights rather than making it a standalone outing;
- you enjoy seeing a destination from a different perspective;
- you want to make use of the morning while still keeping the rest of your day available.
If waking before dawn sounds more like an obligation than part of the experience, one of our later starting points will probably suit your trip better.
Planning an early start
Sunrise determines the schedule, so this is one experience where the starting time cannot be separated from the date.
Pick-up is often around 4 AM, but the actual time depends on where you are staying, the sunrise time and where we plan to see it. We confirm the appropriate schedule when arranging your day.
Sunrise, clear skies and visibility cannot be guaranteed. Weather is part of any experience built around natural light.
We take those realities into account when planning the morning rather than promising a view that no one can control.
What’s usually included
Your exact proposal depends on which sunrise configuration you choose, but the standard private setup normally includes:
- a private vehicle with a professional driver;
- a licensed tour guide in the language arranged for your group;
- pick-up and drop-off at chosen locations within the city of Rio de Janeiro;
- complimentary bottled water.
When beginning at Sugarloaf
- special early access to Sugarloaf Mountain;
- Sugarloaf cable car tickets;
- breakfast;
- admission to Christ the Redeemer.
When beginning from a viewpoint
- admission to Christ the Redeemer;
- fast-track Sugarloaf Mountain tickets.
If we shape a different route or setup for you, the inclusions can change accordingly. Your proposal always confirms exactly what is included before you decide.
Breakfast
Breakfast works differently depending on how your Rio Sunrise begins.
At Sugarloaf
Breakfast is included when your Rio Sunrise begins with the Saturday early-access experience at Sugarloaf Mountain. It is part of that sunrise experience and is already included in this configuration of the tour.
From a viewpoint
Breakfast is not part of the standard inclusions when we begin from Mirante Dona Marta or another viewpoint.
If you would like to include time for breakfast, tell us when we are shaping the morning. We can discuss what makes sense for your route and schedule rather than promising a fixed arrangement in advance.
How pricing works
Rio Sunrise is quote-first because the final setup depends on how you want to experience the morning.
The Saturday Sugarloaf configuration includes a different set of arrangements from a sunrise beginning at a city viewpoint. Group size, route, logistics and any changes you would like to make can also affect the proposal.
